ABOUT THE PROJECT
This time of summer means millennial parents are looking to buy the best summer gear for themselves and the fam. For this campaign, Nike wanted to bring forward the best styling choices in red, white and blue, while mixing other colors in, nodding to the July 4th shopping moment.

Centered around personal freedom and community spirit, we invited 4 BIPOC families to have a backyard barbecue to show genuine moments of multi-generational fun captured candidly in docu-style format. Everyone was invited: mom, dad, kids, and even grandpa. To build on the idea of authentic summer fun, we took film snapshots of the family in their element, enjoying and playing backyard games to present alongside the digital stills.

Naturally I thought a fly-on-the-wall approach for this shoot would highlight that this was a real party, with real families having real fun. In addition to the stills, we used this idea for video, combining footage of the BBQ with fluid gradients in red, white and blue to subtly recall the holiday on digital billboards in NYC + LA.
